Aleppo soap
Aleppo soap is the oldest of all soaps, and the ancestor of Marseille soap. It is a natural soap composed of very few ingredients: olive oil, laurel berry oil, water and soda/lye. During saponification, glycerin is created from vegetable oils that you can find in your soap. Salt can also be found from the water used when washing soap dough after saponification. Laurel berry oil is known for its purifying, astringent and disinfecting properties. Olive oil, on the other hand, moisturizes and nourishes the skin.
Aleppo soap can be used by the whole family, even babies. It is suitable for all skin types and especially for sensitive or problem skin (eczema or psoriasis for example). Aleppo soap opens the pores and eliminates the sebum responsible for blackheads and pimples. Also, laurel berry oil has antiseptic properties and blocks the proliferation of acne-causing bacteria. Aleppo soap can be used to wash the whole body.
Aleppo soap happens to be our favorite DISH SOAP! It cleans exceptionally well, and leaves behind zero residue. We keep it in our kitchen, and use it with our dish brushes.
We have also heard that Aleppo soap makes a great stain remover as well as laundry detergent. It is truly a wonder soap!
